Micro niche social networks Vs Large
Today I spend it all in analysing the big guys: Facebook, twitter, youtube, flickr... now the internet is changing and we all know that. The Corporate (big fish) are waiting for a big website to become bigger so, they can make an offer.
How about Small niche social networks?...do they stand a chance ?Bet your A$$ they do! See: the idea of growing for some reason comes with sacrifice. For social networks the sacrifice is obvious, it is Users vs. Sponsors...let us take the same story to a small 50k users network, it’s dedicated, the founders could be right behind you in the traffic light or Crispycream. If this social network gets a sponsor offer to sell out its database, it’s going to be difficult because they only have 50k to begin with. (Without mentioning how hard they worked for it.) So, when you ask them to give away the db, you are actually asking them to shutdown!think of it this way, I would rather have a million social networks, each one is dedicated to a small niche like DIY or gardening... than trying to find my way around by the so-called big social network(s), Yes I know I have an account there... (When 10 people call you a monkey you ignore... but when 1000 people call you a monkey... you’d better start acting like one )Now I know am all over the place, this post is not to find a solution but to share how important small social networks are. They are dedicated, solid with morals and love.
